These studs are hand carved from a tagua nut, a seed from a type of palm that grows in the South American rainforests. Often known as vegetable ivory, tagua is an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to animal ivory.
This ethical jewellery is handmade by the MYA group in Ecuador.
The final assembly of these pieces is completed by the Just Trade UK team of makers in their Peckham studio.

Care instructions: tagua is a natural, organic material and the undyed products may darken slightly over time, this is normal; if your tagua jewellery is looking a bit dull it can be buffed up with a soft white cotton cloth; although tagua is a fairly hardwearing material, please be aware that if you drop it onto or knock it against a hard surface it could chip; never immerse your tagua jewellery in water as this can cause it to crack; plated jewellery is likely to tarnish over time; if you want to restore the original shine to your jewellery we recommend you clean it with a soft cloth
